Newbery Winners

Our family has a goal to read every Newbery winner over the next several years! Join us on our journey!

What is the Newbery Medal?

The Newbery Medal, named after John Newbery, is awarded each year to the author of the “most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.” The first medal was awarded in 1922, and it has continued every year since then. If you’d like to find out more about John Newbery and his life, I also highly recommend this picture book.

We have a (lofty!) goal to read every Newbery-winning book over the next several years. Books that are rated with stars are those we have finished, but we are still working on the others.
